新型マツダCX-60 25S Lパッケージは、価値ある300万円台だった!!! フツーのガソリンモデルならではの持ち味とは
一部改良を受けたマツダのSUV「CX-60」のうち、エントリーモデルのガソリン仕様に試乗した。300万円台から購入可能なグレードに迫る。

今回試乗した25S Lパッケージは、2.5リッター直列4気筒ガソリンエンジン搭載モデル。
CX-60がウリとするディーゼルでもなければ6気筒でもないし、プラグイン・ハイブリッドシステムといった高度な電動システムもない“素”のモデルだ。
2022年9月15日発表のプレスリリース「『MAZDA CX-60』の販売を開始」には、機種別の受注状況内訳も記されていたが、25Sは全体のたった15%。ちなみにほかの機種は以下の通り。
PHEV（e-SKYACTIV PHEV）5%
XD-HYBRID（e-SKYACTIV D）43%
XD（SKYACTIV-D 3.3）37%
PHEVは500万円超の上位モデルゆえ、5%は致し方ないのだろう。ディーゼルモデルが80%を占めるのには驚いた。
人気のディーゼルモデルは、6気筒エンジンならではのスムーズさは魅力だ。でも、今回乗ったガソリンモデルの軽やかさも魅力だった。
走り出しのダッシュ力は、低回転から大トルクを発揮するディーゼルには敵わないが、都市部の交通の波に乗るには必要にして十分。多段化による滑らかで応答の良い変速が特徴のトルコンレス8ATと組み合わせも良い。
エンジンサウンドはいたってフツー。アクセルを踏み込んで積極的に楽しみたくなるような音質ではない。一部改良により静粛性向上の効果か、不快なノイズがよく抑えられているので、助手席乗員との会話も弾む。
ハンドリングは、フロントまわりが軽くなった分、俊敏だ。マツダが謳う“エンジン縦置き後輪駆動ベースプラットフォームだからこそ味わえるステアリングフィール”を、ガソリンモデルなら存分に味わえる。意のままに操れるから、コーナリングが楽しい。
もうちょっとパワーがあったらなぁ⋯⋯と、思わなくもないが、300万円台でユーザーに走る歓びを供するのだから、無理は言えない。ターボチャージャーを装着するとオモシロくなりそうだ。
試乗車のLパッケージは、快適装備が豊富。運転席・助手席に加えステアリングも電動調整式だし、ハンズフリー機能付パワーリフトゲートも装備。シート地はレザーだ。価格は¥3,795,000。
ライバルと目されるトヨタ「ハリアー」や日産「エクストレイル」、ホンダ「ZR-V」も、同価格帯のグレードを用意するし、快適・安全装備も一長一短で優劣をつけにくい。
CX-60の長所はなにか？ 後輪駆動ベースプラットフォームの採用だと思う。日本ブランドのライバル車は、すべて前輪駆動ベースだ。
300万円台で購入可能な日本製後輪駆動モデルは、トヨタ「86」＆スバル「BRZ」、マツダ「ロードスター」といったスポーツモデルくらい。その中にあってSUVで実現したCX-60は、特異なポジションだ。
