「世界ペンギンの日」前に 広島の動物公園でイベント
「世界ペンギンの日」を前に、ペンギンの生態などを学ぶイベントが広島市の動物公園で開かれました。
このイベントは、ペンギンへの関心を深めてもらおうと、4月25日の「世界ペンギンの日」を前に、広島市安佐北区にある安佐動物公園が開きました。
フンボルトペンギン3羽が飼育されている展示スペースの前には、家族連れや遠足で訪れた園児などおよそ40人が集まり、飼育担当者がクイズを交えながらペンギンの生態などを説明しました。
この中で担当者はペンギンのひざはおなかの中に隠れていて、泳ぐ時は水の抵抗が減り沈みやすくなっていることやペンギンには18種類あり餌の減少などにより個体の数が減っていて、絶滅のおそれがあることなどを説明していました。
広島市の8歳の男の子は「ペンギンが歩いているところが好きです。18種類いることを知らなかったので、勉強になりました」と話していました。
飼育担当の市川彩代子さんは「ペンギンはみんなが好きな動物なんだと感じました。身近だけど実は絶滅の危機にひんしているペンギンのことをまずは知ってもらうことが大切だと思う」と話していました。
