「紫雲丸」沈没事故70年 愛媛の小学校で命の大切さ学ぶ集会
旧国鉄の連絡船「紫雲丸」が瀬戸内海で沈没し、168人が死亡した事故から70年となる11日、修学旅行中の児童などが犠牲になった愛媛県の小学校で、命の大切さを学ぶ集会が開かれました。
昭和30年5月11日、香川県と岡山県を結んでいた旧国鉄の連絡船「紫雲丸」は、高松市の沖合で別の連絡船と衝突して沈没し、修学旅行中の小中学生を含む168人が亡くなりました。
事故から70年となる11日、児童29人と付き添いの保護者1人が亡くなった西条市の庄内小学校で命の大切さを学ぶ集会が開かれました。
集会には児童や遺族などおよそ150人が参加し、慰霊碑に黙とうをささげたあと、事故で親族を亡くした6年生の菅野綿菜さんが大切な人を失うつらさについて作文を読み上げました。
また、紫雲丸に乗り合わせて助かった黒河稔さん（81）は「同級生から救命具を渡してもらって助かったが、その同級生の1人は亡くなった。最後まで周りを助けようとしていた彼を誇りに思う」などと語り、命の大切さを訴えました。
菅野さんは「自分の命を大切にし、事故で亡くなった人の分まで生きようと思います」と話していました。
また、黒河さんは「事故で大勢の友人が亡くなり、今も、生き残ってすまないという気持ちがあるが、児童たちの力強く生きていこうという気持ちに胸がいっぱいになった」と話していました。
