グーグル、耐量子暗号移行を2029年に設定 Android 17対応
グーグルは、量子コンピュータ時代に向けた耐量子暗号(Post-Quantum Cryptography、PQC)への移行について、2029年を目標とする方針を示した。
PQCは、将来の量子コンピュータによる解読に耐えることを前提とした暗号技術の総称。現在広く使われている暗号方式は量子計算によって破られる可能性が指摘されており、その対策として新たな標準化や実装が進められている。
同社は量子コンピュータの進展により既存の暗号技術は解読される脅威にさらされると指摘。暗号化とデジタル署名の双方に影響が及ぶほか、現時点でも「暗号化されたデータを保存しておき将来解読する」という攻撃手法への懸念があるとしている。
こうした状況を踏まえ、認証サービスを優先対象としてPQC移行を進める方針を示した。デジタル署名については、実用的な量子コンピュータの登場前に移行を完了させる必要があるとする。
具体的には、Android 17で米国国立標準技術研究所(NIST)に準拠したML-DSAによるPQCデジタル署名を導入するほか、Chromeやクラウドサービスでも対応を進めている。
