KDDIとAMD、5G仮想化ネットワークの高度化で技術提携
KDDIとAMDは23日、KDDIの5G仮想化ネットワークに第4世代AMD EPYC CPUを採用し、AI時代の5G仮想化ネットワークの高度化に向けて技術提携していくことで合意した。2025年中に検証を開始し、2026年度以降、全国の商用ネットワークへ展開していく。
AMD EPYC CPUは複数の小型チップを一つのプロセッサーに統合し、従来の一体型デザインよりも多くのコアを搭載することで、高性能と低消費電力の両立を実現する。KDDIの5G仮想化ネットワークにEPYC CPUを採用することで、トラフィック処理能力の高性能化と省電力化が図れるという。
また、両社は5G仮想化ネットワークでのAMD EPYC CPUの活用を通じ、さらなるCPU利用の高度化に関する検証を実施。検証結果を基に、CPU利用を高度化し、AI時代のデータセンターへの活用の可能性を探る。
