OpenAI、17兆円の新規調達　アマゾン、NVIDIA、ソフトバンクG

OpenAIは27日(米国時間)、7,300億ドルのプレマネー評価額で、1,100億ドル(約17.1兆円)の新規調達を発表した。内訳はソフトバンクから300億ドル、NVIDIAから300億ドル、Amazonから500億ドルの投資を受ける。さらにAmazonとは戦略的提携を締結し、NVIDIAとは次世代推論コンピューティングを確保するなど、資金だけでない提携強化を図っていく。 この提携により、OpenAIのグローバル展開を拡大するほか、AIインフラの強化や財務基盤の強化などを図る。ChatGPTは、週間アクティブユーザーが9億人を超え、現在5,000万人以上の有料契約者を抱えている。利用規模の拡大に伴い、応答速度の向上や信頼性の強化、安全性の向上、パフォーマンスの一貫性向上などに取り組む。 Amazonとの提携では、Amazon Web Services(AWS)において、OpenAIのモデルを活用したステートフルランタイム環境を開発し、Amazon Bedrockを通じて提供する。今後、数カ月で展開予定としている。また、AWSは、OpenAIの企業AIエージェント支援サービス「OpenAI Frontier」の独占的なサードパーティクラウド提供事業者となる。 OpenAIはこれらに対応するため、AWSインフラを通じて2GW(ギガワット)のTrainium容量を利用する。また、Amazonの顧客向けアプリケーションのためのカスタムモデル提供などでも協力していく。 NVIDIAとの提携では、Vera Rubinシステム上で専用推論能力3GWとトレーニング能力2GWを活用。Microsoft、OCI、CoreWeaveで既に稼働中のHopperおよびBlackwellシステムを基盤とする。資本とインフラの拡張により、最先端モデルをグローバル規模でトレーニング・展開する能力を強化する。 ソフトバンクグループは、ソフトバンク・ビジョン・ファンド2を通じて資金調達ラウンドに参加。300億ドル(4兆6,743億円)の追加出資を行なうことで、OpenAIに対する累計出資額は646億ドル、持分比率は約13％となる見込み。 OpenAIのサム・アルトマンCEOは、「インフラ、研究、製品開発のあらゆる面で限界を押し広げ、AIの能力向上、信頼性強化、幅広い実用化を推進している。ソフトバンク、NVIDIA、アマゾンは長期的なパートナーであり、真の科学的進歩を世界規模で人々に有益なシステムへと転換するという志を共有している。すべての人々のために機能するAIを構築するには、技術スタック全体にわたる深い連携が不可欠。共に実現できることを大変嬉しく思う」とコメントしている。 初期からOpenAIに投資してきたMicrosoftは、25年10月に発表したパートナーシップを変更するものはないとの声明を共同で発表。強固なパートナーシップを維持すること、知的財産関係に変更はないこと、AzureがステートレスなOpenAI APIの独占的クラウドプロバイダーとして継続すること、OpenAIの自社製品は引き続きAzure上でホストされることなどを説明している。
