鳥取 すいかの査定会 西日本有数の産地 来月上旬から本格出荷
すいかの生産が盛んな鳥取県北栄町で、すいかの出来栄えを調べる査定会が開かれました。
鳥取県は県の中部と西部で350余りの農家がすいかを栽培する西日本有数の産地で、県の園芸試験場で開かれた査定会には、北栄町や倉吉市などで栽培されたすいか18玉が持ち込まれました。
査定会ではJAの担当者が、すいかをたたいて空洞がないか確認したり、実を切って専用の機械で糖度を測ったりして調べていきました。
その結果、平均糖度は外側が11.8度、内側が12.2度と出荷基準の11度をいずれも上回りました。
JAによりますとことしは春先の低温で生育の遅れがあったものの、4月以降は天候に恵まれ、糖度と大きさともに例年並みとなっているということです。
鳥取県産のすいかは来月上旬から関西や関東を中心に本格的な出荷が始まります。
また、7月には大阪・関西万博での試食会も予定されているということです。
すいか農家の岸本健志さんは「鳥取のすいかはどこを切っても甘い、安定した味なので、消費者にはおいしく味わってもらいたいです」と話していました。
