Uber Eats、13歳から注文可能に 「Uber Teens」
Uber Eats Japanは、13歳から17歳の子供がUber Eatsアプリで料理などを注文できる「Uber Teens」を全国で開始した。子供が必要なときに食事を注文でき、保護者は常に注文状況を把握できる。

Uber Teensは、2024年12月に配車アプリ「Uber」で初導入されたサービス。今回新たに食事配達でも導入する。これまでUberアカウントは18歳以上で作成できたが、Uber Teensにより13歳以上から利用できるようになる。
利用の際は、保護者が子供を招待して家族用プロフィールを登録。保護者があらかじめ設定した利用限度額の範囲内で注文でき、支払いは保護者のアカウントに紐付く。安全対策として、子供のアカウントではアルコールなど年齢制限が設けられている商品は検索候補とメニューから除外される。
保護者のアカウントでは、子供が注文すると通知が届き、注文内容の確認や配達状況をリアルタイムで追跡可能。また、Uber Teensの配達は、ユーザーからの評価が高く、一定の配達実績があり、配達における安全基準を満たしている配達パートナーに限定される。
同社はサービス導入の背景に共働き世帯の増加を挙げており、週末や長期休暇中の子供の食事をはじめ、放課後の部活動後、習い事や塾の前後の軽食・夕飯など、子供のスケジュールに合わせた食事の準備が、仕事との両立において負担となっているという。Uber Teensにより子供が食事を注文でき、保護者が直面している「ごはんづくり」の負担を軽減し、便利な食事の選択肢を提供するとしている。
なお、Uber Teensでの食事配達は2023年に米国・カナダで開始し、今回日本をはじめ複数の国で新たに導入される。
