新型GRヤリスRZ“High performance”エアロパフォーマンスパッケージ装着車に乗った!!! モータースポーツを起点としたもっといいクルマづくりとは？
進化した「GRヤリス」に新たに設定された「エアロパフォーマンスパッケージ」を装着したモデルに、『GQ JAPAN』ライフスタイル・エディターのイナガキが乗った！

今年4月11日、進化した新しいGRヤリスが発表された。
GRヤリスは、「モータースポーツを起点としたもっといいクルマづくり」を通して生まれた。今回の改良ではスーパー耐久シリーズや全日本ラリー選手権などのモータースポーツからの知見を開発に反映したという。
新しいGRヤリスは、進化したGAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmissionを搭載する。主にスポーツ走行時のギヤ段の選択制御に細かな改良を加えることで、性能のレベルアップを図ったという。さらに、フットレストの面積を拡大し、踏み込み時の操作性を向上させた。
加えてシャシー部品の締結ボルトの一部に締結剛性の高い特別なボルトを採用。ステアリング操作に対する応答性と直進安定性を向上し、クルマとの一体感を進化させた。ショックアブソーバー及びEPS（電動パワーステアリング）チューニングも最適化。そして、Toyota Safety Senseを全車標準化した。
すでに進化したGRヤリスは試乗済みだが、今回はメーカーオプション「エアロパフォーマンスパッケージ」を装着した車両のテストドライブが主眼。
エアロパフォーマンスパッケージは、GRヤリスの冷却性能と空力性能を、さらに向上させたのが特徴だ。試乗したRZ“High performance”のほかRCグレードにメーカーパッケージオプションとして用意する。
エアロパフォーマンスパッケージは以下、6アイテムで構成される。
(1)ダクト付きアルミフード
全日本ラリー選手権参戦車において先行で開発し、GRMNヤリスに採用したカーボン製フードと同形状のダクト付きアルミフードを設定。高速走行中、エンジンルーム内の熱をダクトから放出し、冷却効果を高める。
(2)フロントリップスポイラー
スーパー耐久シリーズで学んだ高次元の空力バランスを実現するために、フロントリフト＊3の発生を抑え、フロントの接地感と空力バランスを高め、車両のトータルリフトバランスを向上させる。当初、このフロントリップスポイラーを除く5点のアイテムを検討していたものの、プロドライバーの大嶋選手からのフィードバックを受け、より高次元のバランスを目指し、最終的にこのフロントリップスポイラーを追加採用するに至ったという。
(3)フェンダーダクト
ホイールハウス内に溜まる空気を後方へ放出。ノーズダイブ時のステアリングフィールや、コーナー入り口での操縦安定性を向上させる。
(4)燃料タンクアンダーカバー
スーパー耐久シリーズ参戦車両の安全燃料タンクの下部をフラット形状にするアイデアを採用。ボディ下部の空気の流れを最適化し、空力性能を高める。
(5)可変式リヤウイング
大型のリヤウイングは高速域での操縦安定性に寄与し、またブレーキング時のスネーキング現象を抑制。可変式のため、サーキットなどの走行シーンに応じてウイングの角度を変え、走りを楽しめるという。
(6)リヤバンパーダクト
リヤバンパーにおけるパラシュート効果（車両前方からの走行風をリヤバンパーが受け止めることで空気の滞留を招き、抵抗となる現象）を抑制し、Cd値を低減。過酷なレース条件下であるスーパー耐久シリーズの現場で、空力負荷によりリヤバンパーが外れたことを起点に、モータースポーツ特有の厳しい環境に対応するため開発された。
エアロパフォーマンスパッケージ装着車のエクステリアは、特に可変式リヤウイングが目をひくものの、全体としてはノーマルモデルと大きな差はない。これみよがしな派手なエアロパーツでないのが、個人的には好ましい。「能ある鷹は爪を隠す」ということわざがぴったりだ。
撮影車両には各所にボルトが付いたモデルもあった。聞くと、新たに設定されたディーラーオプションの機械締結用ボルトという。レースの接触時などでパーツの脱落を防ぐためという。チームによっては既に採用していたそうで、今回、メーカーとしても用意することになったという。これも、「モータースポーツを起点としたもっといいクルマづくり」の一例だ。
インテリアでは、縦引きパーキングブレーキが目をひく。進化したGRヤリスではFIA世界ラリー選手権や全日本ラリー選手権参戦で得た知見を活かした縦引きパーキングブレーキがり全グレードで選択可能となった。
今回の試乗では、縦引きのメリットをあまり感じられなかったものの、一般的な手引き式とは異なる動きが新鮮で楽しい。日常使いでGRヤリスを使うユーザーも、あえて選択するのは大いにアリ。オーナーの所有欲を大いに満たすはずだ。
