シャチの“執拗な体当たり”、クルーザーが沈没→衝撃映像が公開。スペイン・ポルトガル沿岸で相次ぐ事例
ポルトガル沖で9月13日、シャチの群れが小型クルーザーを襲撃する映像が撮影された。シャチは繰り返し船体に体当たりし、やがて小型クルーザーは沈没した。事故当時、クルーザーには5人が乗船していたが、ポルトガルの国立海事局によると、全員が無事に脱出し、負傷者はいなかったという。

リスボンの運航会社「メルセデス・ベンツ・オーシャニック・ラウンジ」がSNSに投稿した映像には、シャチの体当たりによってクルーザーが大きく揺れる様子が映っている。動画の後半では、クルーザーが沈没する場面も確認できる。
同社のベルナルド・キエロズ氏は、ナショナルジオグラフィックの取材に対し、3頭のシャチらしき海洋哺乳類が、クルーザーの下から激しく体当たりするのを目撃したと語った。
インディペンデント紙によると、船が沈没する直前に、5人の乗組員全員は別の船によって救助されたという。
シャチと人間の接触事故はここ数年で増加しており、特にスペイン・ポルトガル沿岸海域やジブラルタル海峡周辺で目立っている。
同海域でのシャチの攻撃は、2020年ごろから報告されており、シャチは船の舵をターゲットにしているという。
シャチの保護団体「GTOA」によれば、2020年から2024年にかけて同海域で発生したシャチと船の接触事故は数百件にのぼるという。
