沖縄尚学の優勝に地元 沖縄も歓喜 試合中は車も人も少なく
甲子園球場で行われた夏の全国高校野球で、沖縄尚学高校が西東京の日大三高に3対1で勝って、初優勝を果たしました。沖縄県勢が夏の甲子園を制したのは、2010年に春夏連覇を達成した興南高校以来、15年ぶりで、地元・沖縄でも、喜びに包まれています。
那覇市の公設市場 「カチャーシー」で歓喜
精肉店や鮮魚店などが集まり、「沖縄県民の台所」として知られる那覇市の第一牧志公設市場でも沖縄尚学の選手たちに声援が送られました。
市場にある海ぶどうの専門店では決勝進出を受けて急きょ、大型テレビを購入して店先に設置しました。
午前10時に試合が始まるとテレビの前には通路を埋め尽くすほどの人だかりができ、店の人や訪れた客がかたずをのんで試合の行方を見守りました。
沖縄尚学が得点すると太鼓をたたいたり、拍手したりして画面の向こうの選手たちに声援を送っていました。
優勝が決まったときには大きな拍手とバンザイの声がわき起こり、肩を抱き合ったり、沖縄伝統の踊り「カチャーシー」を踊って体全体で喜びを表していました。
テレビを設置した店の30代の女性は「むちゃくちゃうれしいです。選手の皆さんはこのために頑張ったと思います。沖縄の誇りです」と話していました。
買い物客の60代の男性は「最高の気分です。粘り強く諦めないところが本当にすばらしかったです。選手たちにありがとうを言いたいです」と話していました。
那覇市内は車も人もまばらに
試合が終盤の8回に入ったときには、しばしば交通渋滞が起きる那覇市内の主要道路、国道58号を行き交う車はまばらになり、まったく通らない時間帯もありました。
また、ふだんは混み合う商業施設近くの横断歩道を渡る人の姿もほとんど見られませんでした。
沖縄尚学高校では約600人が声援 喜び分かち合う
那覇市にある沖縄尚学高校では生徒や教職員のほか、卒業生や保護者など、およそ600人が詰めかけ、初めての決勝を戦う選手たちに声援を送りました。
講堂に設置された大型スクリーンには中継映像が映し出され、沖縄尚学の打者がヒットを打ったり、守備でアウトを取ったりするたびに歓声が湧き上がりました。
6回表、2アウト二塁のチャンスで、宜野座恵夢選手が勝ち越しのタイムリーヒットを打つと、ひときわ大きな歓声が上がり、生徒たちは応援用のバルーンをたたいて喜びを分かち合っていました。
そして、2点リードで迎えた9回、2年生エースの末吉良丞投手が最後の打者をダブルプレーに打ち取り、沖縄県勢として15年ぶりの優勝を決めると、生徒たちは総立ちになって喜びを爆発させていました。
その後、肩を組んで校歌を歌い、中には涙を流す生徒もいました。
高校3年の男子生徒は「優勝してくれて本当にうれしいです。末吉投手は途中からマウンドに上がって緊張したと思うが、すばらしいピッチングをしてくれて、誇りに思います」と話していました。
高校1年の女子生徒は「年の近い先輩たちがプレッシャーのかかる夢の舞台で野球をしているのを見て感動しました。沖縄県民として絶対に優勝したいと思っていたので、その瞬間を見ることができて本当に幸せです。おめでとう沖尚！」と声を弾ませていました。
