YouTube、青少年保護で一部コンテンツの連続視聴を制限
YouTubeは、青少年の心身の健全な発達を支援する取り組みとして、視聴制限機能や保護者向け管理機能の強化を発表した。対象は13〜17歳のユーザーで、一部のコンテンツの連続視聴を制限する安全対策や、視聴時間管理のためのリマインダー表示の変更が行なわれる。
今回の対策では、繰り返し視聴が青少年に悪影響を及ぼす可能性があるカテゴリーについて、動画の視聴が続かないよう表示を分散する仕組みを導入する。対策の対象コンテンツは、一攫千金を謳う内容や特定商品を購入するとお金持ちになれると示唆するなどの非現実的な金融アドバイス、テストでのカンニング、自己利益のための嘘、他者に悪影響を与える公共へのイタズラや危険行為など。反社会的でネガティブなコンテンツを描く動画や他人を嘲笑するようなコンテンツなどが制限される。
同様の対策はこれまでも、社会的攻撃性を示すコンテンツや身体的特徴の比較を扱う動画に対して実施されており、今回の対象拡大でより広範な安全確保が図られる。
また、スクリーンタイムの適正な管理を促すため、「休憩のリマインダー」と「おやすみ時間のリマインダー」がYouTubeショートや長尺動画でも全画面表示されるようになる。13〜17歳のユーザーでは、これらの機能がデフォルトで有効化されており、60分ごとに表示される休憩の通知や、22時～翌6時の間に表示されるおやすみ時間の通知により、長時間視聴を防ぐ狙い。
保護者向けの管理機能も強化されており、YouTubeファミリーセンターでのアカウント連携により、チャンネル活動に関するインサイトの共有やメール通知の受信が可能になる。
