アメリカのバイデン政権で国務副長官を務めたカート・キャンベル氏がNHKの取材に応じ、先週の米中首脳会談について、中国側には、日米間の結束を弱めるねらいがあるとの見方を示しました。

バイデン政権で国務副長官を務め、アメリカのインド太平洋政策に長年携わってきたカート・キャンベル氏が、28日に都内でNHKのインタビューに応じました。

この中でキャンベル氏は、先週行われたトランプ大統領と中国の習近平国家主席との首脳会談について、「習主席のねらいは、トランプ大統領に中国の世界観を受け入れさせることだ」と分析しました。

そして、「台湾海峡の平和と安定を維持するためのアメリカの支援に疑念を生じさせ、アメリカと台湾の関係の土台を崩そうとしている」との見方を示しました。

また、トランプ政権が会談での発言や公式文書で、アメリカと中国は第2次世界大戦で同盟国だったと言及したことについて、「中国共産党はアメリカと同盟関係にはなかった。中国側がいかに効果的にアメリカを操作しようとしているかを反映している」と指摘しました。

その上で、「習主席は、アメリカと日本の間にくさびを打ち込もうとしている。これは日米の同盟や信頼関係のあり方をあいまいにしようとする試みだ」と述べ、中国側には、日米間の結束を弱めるねらいがあるとの見方を示しました。

また、安全性が議論となっているAIについて、米中で対話の枠組みを設置したことをめぐって、今後、日本はアメリカとAIや半導体などの新たな分野で議論を深めるべきだとして、「それこそが、将来の日米協力の中核を成すものだ」と強調しました。
