長生炭鉱の潜水調査 “現時点で財政支援の検討進めず” 厚労相
戦時中の1942年に起きた、坑道が水没する事故で183人が犠牲になった山口県宇部市の海底炭鉱「長生炭鉱」で25日、坑道内で骨のようなものが見かったことについて、福岡厚生労働大臣は26日の閣議後の会見で、「警察で検査を行っているものと承知していて、引き続き状況を丁寧に把握していきたい」としたうえで、「現時点で財政支援についての検討は進めていない」と述べました。
長生炭鉱では、市民団体が去年から坑道に残された遺骨を探す潜水調査を行っていて、25日に、ダイバーが坑道で土砂の中に埋まっていた骨のようなものを見つけ、現在、警察が確認を進めています。
26日の閣議後の会見で、受け止めを問われた福岡大臣は「犠牲になられた方に心からお悔やみを申し上げる。警察で検査を行っているものと承知していて、引き続き状況を丁寧に把握していきたい」と述べました。
そのうえで、国による対応については、「炭鉱の安全性や、安全を確保したうえでの潜水の実施可能性などの観点から、知見を有する人に話を聞いているが、現時点では安全を確保したうえでの潜水調査に資するような新たな知見は得られていない」とし、「現時点で財政支援についての検討は進めていない」と述べました。
