20台限定のメルセデス・ベンツ GクラスPast II Futureは、古くて新しくて斬新だった!!! 究極の“超限定特別仕様車”に迫る！

メルセデス・ベンツが2025年4月4日に発表して話題になっている“超限定特別仕様車”G-Class Past II Future（パスト・トゥ・フューチャー。24年に上海で発表された「Project Past II Future」の、過激さを期待していると、やや肩透かしをくらう。街中でもフツーに乗れる、カッコいいバージョンだ。
車内も手が入っている。
センターコンソールには、限定20台のうちの1台であるとのレター。内装も、レザーを周囲に、中央部分には格子柄のファブリックを張ったシート地が雰囲気を出している。Gクラスの45周年を記念しての仕様という。
クルマの世界では時としてファッションハウスやデザイナーとのコラボレーションが発表される。多くはシート地や内外のカラリングが特製。外観をいじれないのは、クルマには保安要件が多いからだ。
でも、夢を見させてくれるという点では、楽しい。メルセデス・ベンツはかつて、ルイ・ヴィトンのアーティスティックディレクターを務めた米国人デザイナー、ヴァージル・アブローとのコラボレーションによるコンセプトモデルを手がけている。
もうひとつは、米国出身のファッションデザイナー、ヘロン・プレストンとのコラボレーション。同社のエアバッグ特許取得50周年を機に2021年に「エアバッグコンセプトコレクション」を発表したこともあった。
並行して、モンクレールでは「Moncler × Mercedes-Benz by NIGO」なるコレクションを設定。さきに上海で発表した。今回Past II Futureと同じタイミングで、日本でも一部のモンクレール・ブティックで発売開始した。
今回のPast II FutureのカラーイラストがバックプリントされたTシャツ（¥62,700）にはじまり、キルティングがほどこされたスウェットシャツ（¥184,800）やボマージャケット（¥542,300）にいたるまで、幅広い内容だ。
限定20台のうち日本には4台だけ割り当てられるPast II Futureの価格は¥30,000,000。G450dをベースにしたPast II Futureは、Gクラスのファンのための、モンクレールとNIGOからの希少価値の高い“贈り物”だと思う。
