ソニーの半導体を手がけるグループ会社と半導体の受託生産で世界最大手の台湾のTSMCは、新たに合弁会社を設立し、2029年から次世代の画像センサーの量産を行う予定だと発表しました。

ソニーとTSMCはことし5月、次世代の画像センサーの開発や生産ラインの構築に向けた提携で合意していて、これに基づき、両社は新たに合弁会社を設立すると発表しました。

新会社には、研究開発を主導するソニーが4650億円を、半導体の量産を担当するTSMCが2820億円をそれぞれ拠出するほか、生産能力の増強を進めるために政府の補助金による支援も見込んでいるということです。

会社の設立時期は明らかになっていませんが、熊本県合志市にことし3月に建設された工場を拠点として開発設備や生産ラインを整え、2029年からスマホ向けの画像センサーの量産を行う予定だとしています。

次世代の画像センサーをめぐってソニーのグループ会社の売上高の世界シェアは5割を占めていますが、世界的に需要が高まり中国や韓国などが技術開発や生産体制の強化を進める中、競争力の維持につなげるねらいです。
