静岡市の茶畑 わせ品種の新茶の摘み取り始まる
本格的な新茶のシーズンを前に、静岡市の茶畑では、わせの品種の新茶の摘み取りが始まりました。
静岡市駿河区の郊外にある松川洋平さんの広さおよそ30アールの茶畑では、9日から新茶の摘み取りが始まりました。
新茶は標高およそ150メートルの山の斜面で露地栽培されている「近藤早生」と呼ばれる品種で、一般的な新茶に比べて10日ほど早く収穫されるということです。
9日は近所の農家などおよそ30人が作業にあたり、柔らかな芽を丁寧に手で摘み取っていました。
市内から手伝いに来た80代の女性は「きょうは天気もよくて、新芽もやわらかくて、おいしそうです」と話していました。
松川さんによりますと、ことしは3月後半から気温の高い日が続いたことで、よい新芽が育っているということです。
農林水産省が発表した去年の荒茶の生産量では、静岡県は鹿児島県に抜かれて全国2位となっています。
松川さんは「この品種は独特の甘い香りで、女性や子どもにも人気があります。まだまだ静岡県も鹿児島県に負けないいいお茶がたくさんあるので、ぜひ多くの人に静岡茶、特に新茶を飲んでもらいたい」と話していました。
