沖縄 宮古島 「サガリバナ」のライトアップ始まる
夏の夜だけに花を咲かせる「サガリバナ」のライトアップが沖縄県の宮古島で25日から始まり、訪れた人たちが神秘的で色鮮やかな花を楽しんでいました。
サガリバナは、熱帯や亜熱帯の水辺に見られる樹木で、6月から8月にかけて夕暮れとともに花を咲かせ、夜明けには散ってしまいます。
宮古島市平良の「添道サガリバナ群生地」では、地元の自然保護団体が自生している「サガリバナ」から種をとってまく活動を20年前から続けていて、今ではおよそ600本以上に増えました。
甘い香りを放ちながら白やピンクの花を房状に咲かせるサガリバナは、25日からライトアップが始まり、訪れた地元の人たちや観光客らの目を楽しませていました。
訪れた人たちは「花はいい香りがします」とか「夜咲いて、朝には散る花は神秘的でわくわくします」などと話していました。
サガリバナのライトアップは、7月4日まで行われます。
