アメリカのトランプ政権は今月18日、戦争犯罪などを裁くICC＝国際刑事裁判所について「悪意を持って権限を乱用している」などと主張し、赤根所長を制裁対象に加えると発表しました。

これについて赤根所長は21日、自身が著書を出版している文藝春秋を通じてコメントを発表し「ある程度予期していたことで驚きはない」としています。

その上で「重要なのはこれを国際的な『法の支配』の終えんの始まりとさせないこと。日本と日本の皆さまの支援が重要な鍵となるだろう」と支援を呼びかけています。

今回のトランプ政権による制裁をめぐっては国連やヨーロッパ各国から懸念の声があがっています。
