兵庫 豊岡 出石焼 来年の干支「巳」の置物づくりが最盛期
国の伝統的工芸品に指定されている磁器「出石焼」の産地の兵庫県豊岡市出石町では、来年の干支にちなんだ置物づくりが最盛期を迎えています。
豊岡市出石町の明治時代から続く工房では、50年余り前から干支をかたどった「出石焼」の置物づくりに取り組んでいます。
ことしも9月中旬ごろから来年の干支の巳（み）にちなんでデザインの検討を始め、工房では液状の粘土を石こうの型に流し込んで乾燥させたあと、指先や細い棒を使って表情や形を整えていきました。
そして素焼きをしたあと表面を釉薬でコーティングし、高温で本焼きすると出石焼独特の透き通るような白さの磁器が仕上がります。
置物は、脱皮を繰り返して成長を続ける姿にあやかって歩みを止めず前進しようという願いが込められ、蛇が頭を高く上げた躍動感のあるデザインになっています。
デザインを考案した工房の永澤仁さんは「愛らしさを感じてもらえるようデザインしました。新しい年が成長するいい年になってほしいです」と話していました。
出石焼の干支の置物は、工房や近くの土産物店で販売されるということです。
