Uber Taxi、北関東3県で開始 茨城・栃木・群馬
Uber Taxiは、茨城県、栃木県、群馬県の北関東3県の一部エリアで新たにサービスを開始する。茨城県は2月17日、栃木県は2月4日に開始し、群馬県は3月10日が正式なサービス開始日となる。これにより、Uber Taxiの対象エリアは全国23都道府県に拡大する。
茨城県の展開エリアは、ひたちなか市、水戸市、笠間市、那珂市、大洗町、茨城町、 石岡市、つくば市、土浦市、かすみがうら市、小美玉市。
栃木県の展開エリアは宇都宮市。群馬県の展開エリアは前橋市、高崎市。
北関東3県はそれぞれ世界遺産を含む多くの人気観光地を有しており、外国人観光客の訪問数が増加。また、3県は全国でも自家用乗用車の普及率が高く、マイカー以外での交通手段が限られる地域が多く存在するという。
公共交通機関による移動の足の不足が社会課題となり、高齢者による免許返納も進むため、地域の提携タクシー会社と「Uber Taxi」を提供することで、観光客や地元住民の移動をサポートするとしている。
