障害あるパイロット 開会式の上空を染める 冬のパラリンピック開催50年記念し
冬のパラリンピックの開催がミラノ・コルティナ大会で50年となるのを記念して足などに障害のあるパイロットが開会式の会場の上空をパラリンピックのシンボルマークの色に染めて開催に花を添えました。
飛行に参加したのは、足などに障害がありふだんは車いすで生活しているイタリアの男性パイロット3人です。
今大会が第1回の冬のパラリンピックから50年となる節目の年に開催されるのを記念して6日、開会式の前に会場の「ベローナアリーナ」の上空を3人それぞれが操縦する航空機が飛行しました。
3人は両足に障害があるパイロットでも手動のみで操縦できるように開発された航空機を操り、パラリンピックのシンボルマーク、「スリーアギトス」に使われる赤、青、緑の3色のスモークを出して上空を旋回し、大会の開幕に花を添えました。
15歳のときに事故で下半身に障害を負った男性パイロットは「障害を通じて学んだことは困難のあとでもまた出発できるし、自分がやりたいことに対して『ノー』というべきではないということだ。パラリンピックでは選手の意志の力と目標に向かう心が能力を高めている。空に色でメッセージを描き、伝えることができた」と話していました。
別のパイロットは「障害があろうが、車いすで生活しようが、人生では何でもできるし空まで飛ぶことができる。人生では信じれば何でもできることを伝えたかった」と笑顔を見せました。
