Scale AIにMetaが大型投資 創業者がMetaに移籍
Scale AIは6月12日(米国時間)、Meta Platformsから大規模な投資を受けたと発表した。この投資により、Scale AIの評価額は290億ドル(約4.1兆円)超となる。また、今回の合意に伴い、創業者であるAlexandr Wang氏がMetaに移籍し、後任の暫定CEOにはJason Droege氏が就任する。
Scale AIは、2016年にサンフランシスコで設立。AIモデルの学習に必要な高品質なデータを構築・管理するためのプラットフォームを提供する企業。機械学習向けのデータ整備や自動化ツールを活用し、大規模なAIプロジェクトの基盤づくりを支援している。
創業者であるAlexandr Wang氏は、MetaのAI開発部門に加わるが、引き続きScale AIの取締役として留任し、同社をサポートする。後任の暫定CEOに就任したJason Droege氏は、2024年9月に最高戦略責任者としてScale AIに入社。それ以前は、Uber EatsやAxonなど、テクノロジー企業を20年以上にわたり構築してきた。
Scale AIは今回の調達資金を、イノベーションの加速と顧客との戦略的パートナーシップ強化に充てる。さらに、資金の一部は既得株主などの株式保有者に分配される。投資後、MetaはScale AIの少数株主となる。
