夏目漱石「坊っちゃん」などの自筆原稿発見 奈良 天理大学
明治の文豪、夏目漱石の代表作の1つ「坊っちゃん」は、その自筆原稿の所在がわからず、研究者が行方を探していましたが、奈良県内の大学が10日、150枚にわたる原稿のすべてを発見したと発表しました。また「吾輩は猫である」の一部も見つかったということです。
発表したのは、奈良県天理市にある「天理大学附属天理図書館」です。
「坊っちゃん」は150枚にわたる自筆原稿のすべてが、「吾輩は猫である」は第十章の自筆原稿62枚が見つかり、10日、報道陣に原稿が公開されました。
いずれも線を引いたり書き加えたりなど、推こうしたあとがうかがえ、今も読み継がれる名作が生み出されるまでの過程を見て取ることができます。
図書館などによりますと、「坊っちゃん」と「吾輩は猫である」の原稿は、30年前に愛媛県内で開かれた展示会の図録に載っているのは確認できるものの、その後、所在がわからなくなっていましたが、2019年に図書館が古書店から購入した原稿を鑑定したところ、筆跡や使われている原稿用紙などから、漱石の自筆だと裏付けられたということです。
近代文学が専門の天理大学の太田登 名誉教授は「漱石はあまり手元に原稿を残さなかったようで、かなり分散してしまっているので、こうして残っていたことは、ことばにできないほどの感動だ。自筆原稿を見ずに作品の成り立ちは考えられず、研究者にとって第一級の資料で、今後広く活用されることを期待している」と話しています。
漱石の自筆原稿は、5月18日から東京 千代田区の天理ギャラリーで、10月15日からは天理市の天理参考館で開かれる展示会で公開されます。
