米トランプ大統領 “対中関税引き下げは中国の対応しだい”
アメリカのトランプ大統領が中国へのあわせて145％の関税を引き下げることも示唆する中、23日、記者団からどれほど早く引き下げるのかと問われたのに対し、中国側の対応しだいだとした上で、公正な取り引きになることが重要だという考えを強調しました。
アメリカが中国に対してあわせて145％の追加関税を課す一方、中国も対抗措置としてアメリカに125％の追加関税を課すなど貿易摩擦が激しくなる中、トランプ大統領は22日、「145％は極めて高いが、そんな高さにはならないし、ゼロにもならない」と述べ、引き下げも視野に入れていることを示唆していました。
こうした中、トランプ大統領は23日、ホワイトハウスで記者団から中国への関税をどれほど早く引き下げるのかと問われたのに対し「それは彼らしだいだ。アメリカは長年にわたってむしり取られてきた」と述べた上で、公正な取り引きになることが重要だという考えを強調しました。
その上で、中国を含む各国との交渉について「取り引きが成立しない場合は関税を設定するだけだ。今後2、3週間のうちに具体的な数字を決めるだろう」と述べ、合意できなかった場合はアメリカ側が一方的に関税を設定することを示唆しました。
これに先立ち、ホワイトハウスのレビット報道官は「中国に対して一方的に関税を引き下げることはない。中国がアメリカに課している関税や、非関税障壁の削減が必要だ」と述べ、中国側も関税の引き下げなどに応じることが重要だという考えを示しました。
