Meta、次世代スマートグラス「Aria Gen 2」
Metaは、研究者向け次世代スマートグラス「Aria Gen 2」を発表した。機械知覚、コンテクストAI、ロボティクス分野の研究を加速させる。2025年内にパートナー向けに提供を開始する。

「Aria Gen 2」は、2020年から提供している「Project Aria」プラットフォームの最新モデル。RGBカメラ、6DoF SLAMカメラ、アイトラッキングカメラ、空間マイク、IMU、気圧計、磁力計、GNSSといったセンサーを搭載する。ノーズパッドには、心拍数計測用のPPGセンサーと、装着者の声と周囲の音声を区別するコンタクトマイクを新たに搭載した。
デバイス上でSLAM、アイトラッキング、ハンドトラッキング、音声認識などの機械認識処理が可能。また、6～8時間の連続使用、約75gの軽量設計、折りたたみ式アームにより、長時間快適に装着できる。オープンイヤー・フォースキャンセリング・スピーカーを内蔵し、音声によるフィードバックも可能。
Metaは、Reality Labs ResearchとFAIR AIラボにおいて、長期的な研究ビジョン推進のため「Aria Gen 2」を活用する。学術・商業研究機関への提供を通じて、コンピューティングとAIを創造する研究を促進させるとしている。
Aria Gen 1で収集されたEgo-Exo4Dデータセットは、コンピュータービジョンとロボット工学の基礎ツールとしても活用されており、ジョージア工科大学では、ヒューマノイドロボットの家庭内支援を研究。BMWはそれらの拡張現実システムをスマートカーに統合する方法を模索している。
また、視覚に障がいを持つ人々に向けたソリューションを開発しているIT企業のEnvisionと協力し、アクセシビリティ体験を強化。視覚障害者の屋内ナビゲーションを支援する。
