5年に1度の国勢調査が開始 不審メールや詐欺に注意
5年に1度の国勢調査が9月20日より開始した。調査日は10月1日からで、調査員が各世帯を訪問し、調査書類を配布している。今回で第22回目を迎える国勢調査では、郵送のほかインターネットでも回答でき、回答期限は10月8日まで。

調査にあわせて、総務省や警察庁などは、国勢調査を装った詐欺や不審なメールへの注意喚起を行なっている。国勢調査への協力を装い、記念品の贈呈などを名目に偽サイトへ誘導するメールが多発しており、こうしたメールに記載されたURLへアクセスしないよう注意が必要だ。
国勢調査では、メールでの回答依頼は一切行なっておらず、調査員が訪問して書類を配布する方式をとっている。調査員は身分を証明する「調査員証」や、建物管理者などに業務を委託している場合には「国勢調査業務委託証明書」を所持する。
また、調査では金銭の要求や、口座番号、クレジットカード番号、年収や資産額といった個人の経済情報を聞かれることはない。また、いわゆる「闇バイト」関連の犯罪に利用されるケースもあるため、こうした不審な訪問者や電話、メールに対しては回答せず、市区町村の国勢調査担当部署や、最寄りの警察署、警察相談専用電話(#9110)、警察庁のサイバー事案相談窓口などに相談するよう呼びかけている。
