ノースサファリサッポロ閉園 動物の受け入れ先確保などが課題
20年にわたり違法状態で営業されてきた札幌市の動物園、ノースサファリサッポロが30日閉園しました。閉園後も多くの動物が園内に残ることになり、受け入れ先の確保などが課題となっています。
ノースサファリサッポロの運営会社「サクセス観光」は、札幌市の許可が必要な市街化調整区域に無許可で建物を建設し、20年にわたり営業を続けてきましたが、札幌市のたび重なる指導などを受けて、今月で動物園を閉園し、4年後の2029年中にすべての建物を撤去するとしています。
最後の営業となった30日は、午後5時ごろに営業時間の終了を告げるアナウンスが流され、閉園しました。
訪れた観光客は「動物は元気な姿を見せてくれていましたが、受け入れ先が早く見つかってほしいです」と話していました。
札幌市によりますと、園内では今月5日時点でライオンやトラを含む300を超える動物が飼育されていて、運営会社は閉園後も動物の飼育を続けながら受け入れ先を探す方針です。
一方、札幌市は、違法な建物の撤去を着実に進めるため「除却命令」という建物の撤去を命じる行政処分を検討しています。
撤去に向けた動物の受け入れ先の確保が課題となっています。
ノースサファリサッポロ「深くおわびします」
ノースサファリサッポロはホームページに閉園のあいさつを掲載し、「建物に関する法令違反により、長年支えてくれたお客様やファンの皆様の期待を損なう結果になってしまったこと、深くおわびします」などとコメントしています。
この中で、閉園後の動物については、企業や個人から支援を受け、飼育環境などに問題はないとしています。
また、動物の受け入れ先の調整が進んでいる状況だとしたうえで「時間は要しますが、動物たちにできるかぎり負担のないように細心の注意を払い解決をしていきます」などとコメントしています。
