Perplexityは、Mac用AIエージェント「Personal Computer」の提供を開始した。ユーザーの指示に従って、Mac上でAIがアプリ、ファイル、Web等を横断して作業を進める仕組み。Perplexity Max利用者向けに順次提供される予定で、対応OSはmacOS 14 Sonoma以降。 Personal Computerを使用する上で最良の一つとして挙げられているのが「Mac mini」。Mac miniは常時稼働させやすく、Personal Computerをバックグラウンドで継続的に動作させるのに向いているという。Mac mini上のタスクはiPhoneなど別端末から開始・一時停止などを行なえる。 作業例としては、To Doリストを読み込ませ、今後必要な作業を理解し、取引先への返信や資料の整理、予約の設定などが可能。例えば、NotesのTo Doリストを読取り、各タスクをどのように達成するかを推論。ローカルファイル、iMessage、メール、接続済みアプリ、Webなどを跨いで作業を実行する。 整理されていないDownloadsフォルダーを、分かりやすいプロジェクトフォルダーへ適切な名前と作業しやすい構成にして整理させることも可能。両方のCommandキー押下で起動し、テキストや音声で直接指示してMac上で操作を実行させることもできる。
