ことし7月の熊本地震で9人が死亡した日本製紙八代工場の解体作業中の煙突で起きた火事は、出火からおよそ6時間半後の4日午前0時半ごろに消し止められました。警察と消防は、4日現場検証を行うなどして、詳しく調べることにしています。

3日午後6時前、熊本県八代市にある日本製紙八代工場で、地震により損傷し解体作業が行われていた煙突から火が出ました。

消防車10台以上が消火にあたり、火は通報からおよそ6時間半後の4日午前0時半ごろに消し止められたということです。

警察によりますと、当時、火が出た煙突の近くには工場の関係者10人がいたということですが、この火事でけがをした人はいないということです。

日本製紙によりますと、火が出た煙突は高さ110メートルの強化プラスチック製だということで、出火原因は不明だとしています。
