長崎 五島列島に伝わる「バラモン凧」のたこ揚げ大会
長崎県の五島列島に伝わる「バラモン凧」のたこ揚げ大会が、五島市のシンボルとされる鬼岳で開かれ大勢の人でにぎわいました。
五島列島に伝わるバラモン凧は、五島のことばで「元気者」を意味する「バラモン」の名がつけられたたこで、鬼に立ち向かう勇ましい武者のかぶと姿が描かれています。
たこ揚げ大会は、五島市のシンボルとされる標高315メートルの鬼岳の中腹にある広場で開かれ、愛好家や家族連れなど大勢の人たちが思い思いの場所で自慢のたこを空高く揚げました。
バラモン凧の上部に付けられた竹を弓状にした部分は、風を受けると「ブーン」という音を出すように仕掛けられていて、3日は風が弱かったものの、大空に舞い上がったバラモン凧は独特の勇壮な音を響かせていました。
バラモン凧は、初節句を迎えた男の子に元気に育つようにとの願いを込めて贈る風習があることから、中には男の子の名前が書かれたものも見られました。
地元の4歳の男の子の父親は「健康で元気に育ってほしいという願いを込めて揚げたいです」と話していました。
北九州市から帰省中に1歳の子どもと一緒に、たこ揚げに挑戦した母親は「たくましく自由に育ってほしいです」と話していました。
