9月8日、メルセデス・ベンツは、新型「GLC」を発表した。
新型GLCは、現行「EQC」の後継モデルで、EQテクノロジーを搭載したピュアEV（電気自動車）としてリリースされる。なお、EQCの名前は一代限りで終了となった。
エクステリアは、新しいフロントグリルが目をひく。942個のバックライトによって、暗闇などで存在感を示す。
インテリアは、39.1インチの大型モニター「ハイパースクリーン」が目をひく。メルセデス・ベンツ史上最大級のサイズという。最新のメルセデス・ベンツ・オペレーティングシステム（MB.OS）も搭載。これは人間の脳に匹敵する複雑な処理能力に加え、毎秒254兆回の演算処理が可能な極めてパワフルなチップを組み合わせる。オプションで、ビーガン素材を使ったインテリアパッケージも用意した。
既存の内燃機関を搭載したGLCと較べホイールベースは80mm長い。結果、前後席の足まわりのゆとりが拡大し、かつヘッドルームにも余裕がうまれた。荷室は570Lの容量を確保したリヤに加え、フロントにも128Lの容量を誇るスペースを用意した。
新型GLCは、800Vアーキテクチャーを採用するのも特徴だ。最上位グレードは、デュアルモーターパワートレインを採用する。満充電時の航続可能距離は最大713kmに達するという。
ちなみに新しいバッテリーは、メンテナンスなどを考慮し開発。車両下部からバッテリーを整備可能なため、バッテリー全体を分解することなく修理や交換が可能となった。
足まわりは、前後マルチリンク式のサスペンションを装備。オプションのエアサスペンションを選ぶと、高速走行時に車高を下げて空気抵抗を低減させる。後輪操舵システムも用意した。ブレーキシステムは、4段階から選べるの最新の回生システムを搭載。
新しいメルセデス・ベンツGLCは2026年初頭に発売開始予定。日本導入時期は未定だ。
