地震後に大規模な爆発が起きた熊本県嘉島町の「イオンモール熊本」では31日も、取り残された人がいないかを確認するため、警察による捜索が行われています。

「イオンモール熊本」ではこれまでに7人の死亡が確認されていて、生存率が大きく下がるとされる発生から72時間が迫るなか、午前5時半から捜索が始まりました。

警察によりますと、警視庁や大阪府警、それに兵庫県警の機動隊員などおよそ230人が各グループに分かれて建物の中に入り、取り残された人がいないか確認を進めていました。

一方、自衛隊や消防は建物の損傷が激しい搬入口付近で、重機を使ってがれきの撤去作業を進めていて、警察による捜索活動を支援していました。

現場では、爆発で飛び散ったとみられる外壁の一部が足元に散乱していたほか、ガードレールが大きくねじ曲がった様子も見られました。
