警察によりますと、1日午後0時半すぎ、弥富市の尾張大橋近くの木曽川で、シジミ取りをしていた人が川の中に沈んでいく男性を見つけ、近くにいた人を通じて119番通報しました。
警察と消防が駆けつけて周辺を捜索したところ、川の中から男性が見つかり、病院に搬送されましたがおよそ3時間後に死亡しました。
現場は近鉄名古屋線の近鉄弥富駅から西におよそ1キロの場所で、警察は男性の身元の確認を進めるとともに、当時の状況を詳しく調べています。
