Google、AIエージェントが自動で安全に買い物する「AP2」
Googleは、主要な60以上の決済・テクノロジー企業と共同開発した、AIエージェント決済の安全性を確保するオープンプロトコル「Agent Payments Protocol」(AP2)を発表した。

ユーザーの操作を代行するAIエージェントの利用が拡大していることを受け、エージェントが取引を行なう権限を安全に認証・検証・伝達する共通プラットフォームの必要性が高まっているという。
これまでのインターネットショッピングは人間の直接操作が前提だったが、自律したAIエージェントによる取引では、ユーザーが購入する権限を与えたこと(認可)、エージェントの取引がユーザーの意図を正確に反映していることを店側に示すこと(真正性)、不正や誤った取引が発生した際の責任の所在を判断すること(責任の所在)、といった課題があり、AP2はこれらの課題の解決を図るプロトコルになる。AP2は、A2AプロトコルやMCPの拡張として利用可能となる。
AP2は、ユーザーの指示を検証可能な証拠として残す機能を持つ、改ざん防止機能付きの暗号署名されたデジタル契約であるMandates(委任状)を基礎として構築される。委任状は意図委任状(Intent Mandate)、カート委任状(Cart Mandate)などからなり、検証可能なクレデンシャル(Verifiable Credentials:VCs)によって署名され、すべての取引の基礎となる証拠として機能する。
委任状のシステムは、エージェントで買い物をする際、ユーザーがその場にいる場合といない場合の両方のケースに対応する。
ユーザーがその場にいて、相談を受けているエージェントがリアルタイムに購入する場合、ユーザーの行動や選択、承認が委任状として記録され、証拠として残される。
ユーザーがその場にいない状態でエージェントが買い物をするケース、例えばチケットが発売された瞬間に購入することをエージェントが依頼されている場合は、価格の上限や購入タイミングといった、事前に詳細を規定した意図委任状に署名する形になる。
ユーザーの意図を反映した意図委任状をベースにするエージェントの買い物は、全く新たな購入体験を実現する可能性がある。
例えば、ある商品の特定の色の在庫がない場合、ユーザーがその商品を欲しいことや、どれぐらいまでの価格上昇なら購入してもよいかを伝えると、エージェントは価格や在庫を監視し、見つかった瞬間に購入を自動的に実行する。
ほかにもエージェントは、特定の日時までに商品を入手したいといった事情を考慮して購入したり、旅行の航空券やホテルについて、ユーザーの希望通りの日程や予算内の組み合わせを見つけたら予約を実行したりできる。
AP2は決済手段に依らないユニバーサルプロトコルとして設計されており、ステーブルコインや仮想通貨などを含め、さまざまな決済手段に対応。Web3関連ではCoinbase、Ethereum Foundation、MetaMaskなど主要な組織と協力し、エージェントが仮想通貨で決済できる仕組みも開発する。
GoogleはAP2について、eコマースの世界にAIエージェントが参入する時代において、信頼性を構築し、イノベーションが起こる明確な機会になるとしている。このエコシステムに参画する組織には、アドビ、アメリカン・エキスプレス、Cloudflare、デル、JCB、Mastercard、PayPal、Revolut、1passwordなども含まれている。
