東京臨海副都心で無料の自動運転サービス エリア拡大で8月から
MONET Technologiesは、東京臨海副都心(台場・青海・有明エリア)とその近接地域である江東区豊洲の一部エリアの公道で、自動運転技術による移動サービスの提供を開始する。一般の利用者向けで、期間は8月4日から12月19日(予定)。利用は無料で、運行時間は10時～16時(土日祝は運休)。
MONETは、1月から約2カ月間、東京臨海副都心の公道で自動運転技術による移動サービスの実証運行を実施し、約1,200人が利用した。利用者向けのアンケートでは、継続してサービスの利用を希望する回答が8割を超えるなど、サービスの有効性を確認できたという。
これを受け、8月から東京臨海副都心に加えて豊洲の一部エリアに運行範囲を拡大して移動サービスを提供する。乗降場所は5カ所から11カ所に拡大し、計110のルートを走行することで、より広いエリアの移動ニーズに対応。エリア内の回遊性向上を目指す。
今回開始する移動サービスは、トヨタのミニバン「シエナ」をベースにした自動走行車両2台(運転の自動化レベル2)を使用し、地域の在住者や在勤者、来訪者向けに無料で提供する。
車両には、自動走行車両の操作を習得した日本交通の乗務員も乗車。ハンドル・ブレーキの操作が常時可能な態勢で、状況に応じて手動運転に切り替えて走行する。利用者は、MONETの特設サイトで乗降場所を指定し、GOが提供するタクシーアプリ「GO」を通して配車依頼をする。乗車定員は乗務員を除いて5名。
