東京大学の次の総長の選考をめぐって、教員の有志らが詳しい説明を求める要望書を提出したのに対し、東京大学は16日、回答書を公表しました。意向投票で2位だった候補者を選んだ理由について「選考会議の最も多くの委員の支持を得た」などとしています。

東京大学では9月、前副学長の藤垣裕子氏が新たな総長の予定者となりましたが、教職員による意向投票では2位だった藤垣氏が選ばれたため教員の有志が詳しい選考の過程の説明を求める要望書を提出していました。

これに対し総長を決める選考会議は16日、回答書を公表し「長時間にわたる意見交換を行い藤垣氏が選考会議の最も多くの委員の支持を得た」としています。

意向投票については「重要な判断材料だがどの程度、評価に反映させたかは委員によって異なる。ただし委員の評価に大きな影響を与えていると思う」としました。

このほかガバナンス改革への取り組み方針も判断材料だったとしたうえで、工学系研究科の教員が携わる関連団体で発覚した不祥事についても意見交換が行われ、候補者から説明を受けたことも明らかにされました。
