KDDI、万博で展示“未来都市”をバーチャル空間でも提供
KDDIは、2025年日本国際博覧会(大阪・関西万博)の未来社会ショーケース事業「フューチャーライフ万博・未来の都市」を、KDDIのメタバース・Web3サービスプラットフォーム「αU」(アルファユー)上に実装した「バーチャル未来の都市」を4月13日にオープンする。

バーチャル未来の都市は、「自分たちの生きていたい未来を考える」がコンセプトの仮想空間。KDDIと協賛者が共創した、Society 5.0が目指す“人間中心の都市空間”が構築される。2030年代の近未来の都市空間として設計されており、アバターを介して街を散策し、社会課題を解決した未来の姿や、未来を支える技術に触れられるなど、バーチャルならではの独自体験が可能。
また、「バーチャル未来の都市」では、日立とKDDIによる共同展示「Mirai Theater」(ミライシアター)をバーチャル空間上でも体験できる「バーチャル未来シアター」も提供される。同シアターのコンセプトを万博の会場外からもアプリで体験できる。
日立とKDDIは、万博の「未来の都市」パビリオンにおいて、共同展示「Mirai Meeting」の概要を明らかにしている。「Mirai Theater」はその中に用意されるシアター形式の体験型展示。
「バーチャル未来の都市」の参画企業は、日立製作所、KDDI、クボタ、川崎重工業、関西電力送配電、神戸製鋼所、IHI、青木あすなろ建設、小松製作所、カナデビア、商船三井。
