アメリカのIT大手「グーグル」が開発した生成AIが、ことし5月におこなわれたサイバー能力の試験中に、実在する企業3社のシステムに侵入していたことがわかりました。

アメリカの有力紙、ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルは18日、アメリカのIT大手「グーグル」が開発した生成AI「Gemini」がことし5月に行われたサイバー能力の試験中に、実在する3つの会社のシステムに侵入していたと伝えました。

記事によりますと、このうち1件ではAIが保護されたシステムへのアクセス権を得るまでパスワードを推測し続けたほか、残りの2件ではAIがインターネット上で公開されているパスワードなどの認証情報を見つけ、それらを使ってシステムに侵入したということです。

試験では誤ってインターネットに接続できる設定になっていたということで、いずれの事例でもAI自身が実在する企業のシステムに侵入していると認識し、動作を停止したということです。

グーグルはNHKの取材に対し、AIによる侵入を認めたうえで、「AIはテストの一部であると判断し、ウェブサイトへのアクセスに必要な認証情報を推測するなどしたが、事例のすべてにおいて動作を停止している。高性能なAIモデルが責任を持って行動するよう訓練することの重要性を浮き彫りにしている」とコメントしています。
