眼鏡の“日本製”表示 基準明確化し統一へ 福井県眼鏡協会
眼鏡の産地、福井県で、眼鏡製造に携わる事業者の団体が、製造工程のほとんどが海外にもかかわらず、「日本製」と表示して海外市場で販売される眼鏡が近年、増えているとして、「日本製」と表示する基準を明確にするとともに統一することを決めました。
福井県は、県内の鯖江市で国内の眼鏡フレームのおよそ90％が生産され、眼鏡の産地として知られています。
福井県眼鏡協会によりますと、近年、製造工程の8割ほどが海外にもかかわらず、福井県内で仕上げをした眼鏡が、国内と基準が異なる海外市場で「日本製」と表示され販売されるケースが増えているということで、ブランド価値の低下を懸念する声が上がっています。
このため協会では、国が定める「日本製」と表示するのに必要な基準について、「金属製の眼鏡は部品どうしを接続する工程を国内で行う」といった内容を明確にするとともに、統一することを決めました。
福井県眼鏡協会は加盟するおよそ220の事業者に基準を守る誓約書の提出を求めるほか、今後は産地を示す商標の国際登録に向けて検討も進めることにしています。
協会の佐々木英二会長は、「黙って見過ごしていくとメイドインジャパンの価値がどんどん下がってしまう。次の世代の人たちのため眼鏡産業を守っていく取り組みだ」と話していました。
