原宿駅、旧駅舎を再現しながら開発 26年度冬開業
JR東日本は、原宿駅旧駅舎跡地開発について、5月末頃から本体工事に着手。旧駅舎の外観を再現しながら、商業施設として整備していく。開業は2026年度冬を予定。

原宿の玄関口として100年近く利用されてきた駅舎の再開発。旧駅舎建物は、尖塔を載せたハーフティンバー様式風のデザインで、街のシンボルとして親しまれてきた。今回の開発では、その特徴的な外観を可能な限り再現して建替え。現行法令に適合する範囲で、旧駅舎建物の外装材の一部を再使用する。
開発コンセプトは、3つの「つながる」。旧駅舎の外観の再現により原宿駅の記憶を継承する「時とつながる」、明治神宮の杜やまちの緑との調和を大切にする「まちとつながる」、多様な流行・文化の発信源である原宿にふさわしいまちのシンボルを目指す「文化とつながる」の3つで、原宿エリア全体の賑わいに寄与することを目指していく。
構造・規模は、地下1階、地上4階建て、高さ約16m。敷地面積は約760m2、延床面積は約1,170m2。
