米財務長官 日本との交渉で「特定の通貨目標はない」
アメリカのトランプ政権が日本との協議の中でドル高是正の問題を取り上げるのか注目される中、ベッセント財務長官は日本に対して「特定の通貨目標はない」と述べました。これを受けて、金融市場ではアメリカ側から円安ドル高の是正を強く求められることはないとの見方も出ています。
アメリカのトランプ大統領による関税措置などをめぐる日米間の交渉が続く中、トランプ政権側がドル高是正の問題を取り上げ、日本に対応を求めるのかに大きな関心が集まっています。
こうした中、ロイター通信やブルームバーグによりますと、ベッセント財務長官は23日、ワシントン市内で記者団に対し、日本との交渉で「特定の通貨目標はない」と述べました。
そのうえで、ベッセント長官は「日本が為替に関するG7＝主要7か国の財務相・中央銀行総裁会議の合意を尊重することを期待する」と語ったということです。
G7では共同声明の中で「為替レートは市場において決定される。競争力のために為替レートを目標にはしない」などと明記していて、ベッセント長官の発言はこうした合意内容を踏まえたものとみられます。
為替をめぐって、トランプ大統領は貿易赤字を削減するため円安ドル高をけん制していますが、日本政府は、自国通貨を安く誘導する通貨安の政策はとっていないという立場です。
日米間では、加藤財務大臣が25日にもワシントンでベッセント長官と会談する見通しですが、ベッセント長官の発言を受けて、金融市場ではアメリカ側から円安ドル高の是正を強く求められることはないとの見方も出ています。
