廃油から作る航空燃料「SAF」大規模な製造設備が完成 大阪 堺
串カツやから揚げで使った廃油などから作られる航空機の次世代燃料「SAF」の大規模な製造設備が完成し、大阪 堺市で記念の式典が開かれました。
持続可能な航空燃料＝SAFは、植物や使用済みの食用油などを原料とし、従来のジェット燃料より二酸化炭素の排出量を大幅に削減できる次世代の航空燃料とされています。
SAFの大規模な製造設備が大阪 堺市にある製油所に完成し、6日は関係者が出席して記念の式典が開かれました。
この中で、設備の建設を進めた石油元売り大手、コスモエネルギーホールディングスの山田茂社長は「化石燃料以外から航空燃料を作るのは画期的で、脱炭素社会に向けた大きな一歩になると思う。安定供給を目指していきたい」とあいさつしました。
この設備は、飲食店や家庭で出た串カツやから揚げなどで使った廃油をタンクに貯蔵し、年間で3万キロリットル、東京とロンドンの間を350回往復できる量のSAFを生産する能力があります。
来週から試運転を開始し、来月には航空機への供給を始めたいとしています。
SAFをめぐっては、政府も脱炭素社会の実現に向け、2030年時点で国内の航空会社が使う燃料の10％をSAFにする目標を掲げています。
