ネパールと中国の国境付近で起きた大規模な土砂災害で、日本の警察から、死者の身元の特定などにあたる警察官5人が派遣されることになりました。ネパール政府からの要請に基づくものだということです。

先月ネパールと中国の国境付近で起きた大規模な土砂災害では、これまでに死者1200人、日本人5人を含む4700人以上が行方不明になっています。

警察庁によりますと、ネパール政府から日本政府への要請を受け、警察庁から2人、警視庁から3人のあわせて5人の警察官が「国際緊急援助隊」として派遣されるということです。

警察庁によりますと警察官の「国際緊急援助隊」としての海外派遣は、これまでにのべ17の地域、あわせて300人あまりに上り、最近では3年前、トルコとシリアで発生した地震の際に現地で救助活動などにあたっています。
