7月16日、BMW Motorradは、新型「R 1300 RT（アール・センサンビャク・アールティー）」の日本仕様を発表した。新型BMW R 1300 RTは、R 1250 RTの後継モデルだ。
エクステリアはスポーティでありながら、扱いやすさを兼ね備えたダイナミックなデザインを採用。
灯火類には、新しいフルLEDヘッドランプを標準装備。デザインに統合されたサイドトリムにより、優れた保護性能を発揮する。足まわりでは、従来のホイールよりも1.4kg以上軽量化を果たした。
再設計された新型BMW R 1300 RTのシャシーは、鋼製のシート・メタル・メイン・フレームとアルミニウム製のリアフレームを採用。新しいシート・メタル・メイン・フレームは、よりコンパクトなパッケージングのための設置スペースの最適化に加え、前モデルよりも高い剛性を実現。リアフレームは、チューブ状の鋼構造に代わり、アルミニウム製のラティスチューブ・リア・フレームを使う。
最高出力107kW（145hp）を7750rpmで、最大トルク149 Nmを6500rpmで発揮する2気筒ボクサー・エンジンを搭載。エンジン・ドラッグ・トルク・コントロール（MSR）を装備するほか、オートメイテッド・シフト・アシスタント（ASA）仕様も選べる。
新型BMW R 1300 RTの価格は¥3,661,000から。納車は、本年8月下旬以降を予定する。
