グーグル、「@gmail.com」より前の部分のアドレス変更 米国で開始
グーグルは、Googleアカウントのユーザー名(メールアドレスの@gmail.comより前の部分)を変更できる機能を、米国の全Googleアカウント利用者向けに提供開始した。対象は末尾が@gmail.comのGoogleアカウントで、段階的に展開していた機能を全ユーザーへ拡大した。
同機能により、Gmail、Google フォト、Google ドライブなど各種Googleサービスへのログインに使用するメールアドレスを、新しい@gmail.comアドレスへ変更できる。変更後も、アカウントに保存されている写真やメッセージ、メールなどのデータには影響しない。
従来のメールアドレスは予備のメールアドレスとして残り、新旧いずれのアドレス宛てに送信されたメールもGmailの受信トレイで受信できる。Googleサービスへのログインについても、新旧両方のアドレスに対応する。必要に応じて、以前のメールアドレスへ戻すことも可能。
現在は日本では変更できないが、Googleアカウントの設定画面から「個人情報」内の「メール」を選択し、「Google アカウントのメールアドレス」から新しいユーザー名を入力して行なう。新たに設定するアドレスは、ほかのGoogleアカウントで未使用のものが対象。
なお、新しい@gmail.comアドレスの作成は12カ月ごとに1回、合計3回まで。新しいアドレスへ変更した後も、以前のアドレスを完全に削除することはできず、予備メールアドレスとして保持される。
あわせてAIによる優先表示や日次のパーソナライズ要約を行なう「AI Inbox」を発表した。米国ではGoogle AI Ultra契約者向けにベータ版の提供を開始している。
