生ごみからお湯 高輪ゲートウェイのバイオガス施設を見てきた
JR東日本とえきまちエナジークリエイトは、「TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY」(高輪ゲートウェイシティ)において、東日本エリア初のビルイン型バイオガス施設を本格稼働すると発表した。商業施設「NEWoMan高輪」のオープンに伴う本格稼働で、街全体で排出される生ごみからホテルで使用するお湯を沸かす。

高輪ゲートウェイシティは、3月27日にまちびらきした約10haに及ぶ新しい街。バイオガス施設は複合棟「THE LINKPILLAR 1 SOUTH」に設置され、飲食店などから集められた生ごみを発酵させてバイオガスを生成し、そのガスを10月2日開業の「JWマリオット・ホテル東京」の温水ボイラーに使用する。
これにより、食品廃棄物の約7割を削減でき、ホテルの給湯に必要な熱エネルギーの約1割をまかなえる見込み。
バイオガス施設での処理手順は、まず街で発生した食品廃棄物を回収車が生ごみ投入ホッパーへ搬入する。計量後、破砕分別機で細かく砕いて異物を取り除き、生ごみだけを水と混ぜて投入調整槽に貯蔵する。
その後、生ごみは酸素を含まない環境のバイオマス発酵槽で分解。これにより生成されたバイオガスをガスタンクに貯蔵し、温水ボイラーで燃焼してお湯に利用される。
なお、現在は1日あたり1tの食品廃棄物を処理しているが、JWマリオット・ホテル東京や「THE LINKPILLAR 2」内の店舗が開業し、街全体が本格稼働すると最大で1日4tの食品廃棄物の発生が見込まれる。
本施設は4.3tまで対応可能な処理能力を備えており、3基のバイオガス発酵槽により1日約760m3のバイオガスを生成できるなど、街からごみを出さないという方針を体現した仕組みとなっている。
■ バイオガス以外のエネルギー戦略も
報道関係者向け説明会では、高輪ゲートウェイシティにおけるエネルギー活用戦略が紹介された。高輪ゲートウェイシティでは、2050年までのCO2排出量実質ゼロを目標に掲げており、バイオガスだけでなく水素や再生可能エネルギーを活用し、先進的な環境エネルギー技術を取り入れている。
水素の活用については、現在はファーストトライアルのフェーズ1として、外部からカセットに吸着させた水素を調達し、高輪ゲートウェイシティ内を走行する自動走行モビリティの電源として利用している。2028年度以降を予定しているフェーズ2では、再生可能エネルギーを用いてオンサイトで水素を製造し、水素サプライチェーンの構築を目指している。
また、エネルギーマネジメントの中枢として「THE LINKPILLAR 2」の地下には国内最大級の蓄熱槽を設置し、街で生成された余剰の熱を溜めることで、効率的な空調環境を実現する。蓄熱槽の水は災害時におけるトイレ用水などへの活用も想定されている。
説明会では、バイオガス施設のほか、水素燃料電池システムの見学も行なわれた。
